A Smile
On this particular morning I was canvassing in a parking lot. It was full of busy people zipping in and out. I was constantly running from one end to another. While suddenly my eyes met with a smiling couple. They waved at me and I waved back. Then they proceeded to go inside the store while I continued on canvassing. After twenty minutes or so they came out again. This time they came to me. As we were walking to their car together they asked, “What are you doing?” As I explained to them what I was doing, the lady started crying hysterically. In between her breaths and tears she explained how her life was in shambles. She was at rock bottom and had no hope. Then I remembered how earlier in the day someone gave me a donation, but didn’t take a book. I excitedly gave the young lady a Steps to Christ, some encouraging words, and offered a heartfelt prayer with both of them. A simple smile can open so many barriers and walls, more than what we know. Many times people give us resources so that we can bless those around us. When we realize God’s deep love for us, we can’t help but smile and share it with others.
